How I Surf the Web

  • When I read articles online, I use Readability
  • When I want to buy a gadget, my path is Pogue –> Engadget –> Google
  • I’ve “liked” dozens of topics on Glue and yet still haven’t found any compelling uses of its data
  • I’m a super mayor on Foursquare and (used to) get 25% at Nadoz Cafe because of my mayorship
  • When I want to waste time, I either watch Lost or The Daily Show on Hulu
  • When I want to be inspired I either watch Macworld 2007 or various TED Talks
  • My homepage on Firefox and Safari is Google, despite the fact that it’s also my default search
  • I always (used to, when they were still around) use Trim for my short URLs, because I like to support the little guy
  • I go to CNN first, even though they’ve become a tabloid, then NYTimes when I want real news
  • I forget which browser has which bookmarks, and yet I’m too nervous to cede power to Google
  • I Tweet to impress my future employer, yet feel it’s my duty to advise businesses in UX
  • I consider myself an early adopter, yet I’ve never used an RSS reader and this is my first blog
  • I discover music on Pandora, find songs on YouTube, and buy albums on iTunes
  • I take pride in my comments on blogs, and once was asked by a journalist to be interviewed for a story in the American Society for Engineering Education’s Prism Magazine solely based on a comment I made at Inside Higher Education

and that’s how i surf the web
